As the founder of Seeds Yoga, my perspective is informed by my studies in Buddhism and psychology, a family farming heritage in Idaho, my background in sports (runner, triathlete, track coach) and brief career as a substance abuse counselor, an experience that opened my eyes to the suffering and resiliance of my wonderful clients.
My first experience with yoga was a Jane Fonda sun salutation video my Mom had while I was in college. It wasn't until after business school that I enjoyed my first live yoga class. My dear friend Allison Parry Leach introduced me to Hilary Steinitz's classes in Charlottesville, Virginia, and I've been hooked ever since. There Allison coined the phrase "detox and retox" during our evenings of vinyasa classes followed by sangria, apple-tinis and fried cheese fritters. Yoga offered the union of my physical and meditative practices within a fun-loving, supportive environment.
Hilary Steinitz comes from the Jivamukti lineage, and I completed my 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training program through Whole Life Yoga studio with Tracy Weber in the viniyoga tradition. I have since taken workshops with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Dharma Mittra, John Friend and Gina Sala.
With this foundation, my mantra is to "channel Hilary" while teaching. My approach is to take students through a practice that is compassionate, playful, and purposeful in an environment that allows you to be present, explore yourself, connect and leave feeling glad you were there.
Here's to the healthy seeds in you!
Namaste,
